IMPRESSIONS

All custom Alien Ears monitors and ear plugs start with an impression of your ear. Please view the video below to see how impressions are made.

Ear Impression Guidelines for Custom Monitors

Full Ear Impression Required: Impressions must include key anatomical landmarks: the crus of the helix, antitragus, and tragus, extending just past the second bend of the ear canal.

Ear Dam Compatibility Foam or cotton ear dams are acceptable.

Open-Mouth Impressions Recommended If the client sings or makes expressive facial movements on stage, please use a bite block and have them mimic their performance expressions during the impression process.

Use Ample Backing Material Be generous with backing impression material—we recommend a “Frankenstein bolts” style for optimal support and handling.

Audiologist Take Along Sheet

If you are going to an audiologist, please use our “take along” sheet to help the audiologist achieve the best possible impression.
